POTSDAM -- The National Society of Black Engineers from Clarkson University host their annual Walk for Education from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 3.
A Walk for Education is a nationwide initiative of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) in Alexandria, Va. to promote higher education to middle and high school students. Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics -- the STEM subjects -- are particularly emphasized.
The engineers will walk to raise awareness of education, particularly at the secondary and tertiary levels. They firmly believe that higher education is a valuable and crucial resource that needs to be showcased and supported.
The NSBE Chapter at Clarkson University is reaching out to Potsdam community to join in to spread the message. They hope for a big group to walk around the village with their posters, banners and Clarkson or organization apparel promoting higher education.
They will start in the lobby at Clarkson's Cheel Arena at 10:30am for the kick-off.
