POTSDAM -- Springfest 2016 returns to Clarkson University Friday, April 8, at Cheel Arena with a variety of musical acts lined up to perform including co-headliners Hoodie Allen and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.

The concert features a little music for everyone including rap/hip-hop, alternative rock and Americana-soul.

“I highly encourage people to attend as this is the largest scale show we’ve ever put on,” said Nathaniel Hurwitz, vice president of The Clarkson Union Board (CUB), which organizes all entertainment and programming at the university.

The music begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m. The show is for all ages and anyone can attend.

Hoodie Allen is a rap, hip-hop and pop artist. After graduating from college, he began working at Google before ultimately quitting to pursue a music career full-time. Between the years 2009 and 2011, he released several mixtapes, which garnered moderate success in the underground music scene. In 2012, he released his first official EP titled All American, which debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.

In October 2014, Hoodie officially released his debut studio album, People Keep Talking which was successful with first week sales of over 30,000 along with a debut position of No. 8 on the Billboard 200. Hoodie followed up on his success in January 2016 and released his second studio album, Happy Camper.

Andrew McMahon was the vocalist, pianist and primary lyricist for Something Corporate and the main songwriter for Jack's Mannequin. He performs solo both under his own name as well as moniker Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. His debut album Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness released October 14, 2014.

Noah Guthrie will open for Allen and McMahon. He started off as putting covers on Youtube, and attracted a decent amount of attention gathering over 53 million views on Youtube.

In 2012 Guthrie's video of a blues-filled version of "LMFAO's 'Sexy and I Know It'" went viral and gained massive media attention. He has performed live on several shows including the Today Show, Glee, Jay Leno's Tonight Show, and Dancing with the Stars.

In 2014 Noah released his debut single, Call Me Home, shortly following was his debut album, Among the Wildest Things.

About 50 people will help make the show run, Hurwitz said. Setup will begin around 5 a.m. the morning of the concert and cleanup should wrap up 3 a.m. the following day.

Tickets are $10 for Clarkson students, $15 for other students and $20 for the general public. Purchase them at the Cheel Box Office or at clarksonathetics.com.
