POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will welcome accomplished alumna and guest artist Julie Schumacher Detweiler for a concert Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.
The concert will feature Detweiler on clarinet, alongside Michelle Huang on piano. The performance will include works by Claude Debussy, Carlos Guastavino and Robert Muczynski.
Admission is free.
Detweiler is a classical freelance clarinetist who has been described as delivering her musical style with "flair." She has performed with orchestras around the country, including the Rochester Philharmonic, the Orlando Philharmonic, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Roanoke Symphony, the Illinois Symphony, the Garden State and the New England Symphonic Ensemble, among others.
A native of Taiwan, Dr. Michelle Huang has performed widely as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative artist throughout the U.S., as well as in the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland and Taiwan. She has appeared as guest artist in numerous recitals and has given lectures, workshops and masterclasses, and performs extensively with various chamber ensembles.
