POTSDAM -- Cinema 10 continues its spring season on Monday, March 21, with a screening of “Timbuktu.”
Kidane and his family have been spared the ills of terror and conformity imposed by Jihadists in their small patch of land in Timbuktu.
But when a dispute over cattle turns deadly, Kidane's life is thrown into upheaval. Timbuktu explores the violent occupation of rebellion-torn Mali in hauntingly beautiful ways. It has been praised for its stunning cinematography, despite the bitter viciousness the characters are forced to endure.
Colin Covert of the Minneapolis Star Tribune says the film is “culturally deep, visually ravishing, utterly heartbreaking work.”
The film is directed by Abderrahmane Sissako, is 97 minutes long and rated PG-13 for violence.
Cinema 10 films screen on Mondays at 7:15 p.m. at the Roxy Theater, 20 Main St.
Tickets are $3.50individual/$25 season tickets for students and seniors, and $4.50 individuals/$35 season tickets for general admission.
