POTSDAM -- Cinema 10 presents “Nontraditional,” a film made in Potsdam about female veterans’ return to civilian life, Monday, Nov. 11 at 7:15 p.m. at the Roxy Theater.
Director Brian Hauser will make an appearance for the premier of this local film.
Erika Byrd, a 26-year-old combat soldier, returns home to enroll as a “nontraditional” first year college student. Contending with classes, noisy neighbors, demanding professors, and her sense of being invisible in the student body, she struggles to make the transition. The temptation to return to the military is strong.
Hauser conducted interviews with nearly a dozen female student veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, and Erika’s story is the result.
Tickets are $4.50 for general admission, $3.50 for seniors and students.
