Chippewa Bay Community Club presents Back Road Bluegrass July 15 as part of'Friday Evening Backyard Concert Series'

CHIPPEWA BAY -- The Chippewa Bay Community Club will present their next "Friday Evening Backyard Concert Series" July 15 as Back Road Bluegrass entertains featuring the Crowners from Chippewa Bay and the Walkers from Gouverneur. This group has entertained crowds for years with their bluegrass music.

The show will be at at the Community Club, 1172 County Rte. 6, next to the Chippewa Bay Post Office.

All concerts will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the backyard of the Community Club, a 155-year old stone schoolhouse.

People should bring their own lawn chairs.

"Pass-the-hat" donations will be accepted during the performances.

Guitar duo Loren and Mark from New York and New Zealand perform on July 22. Their technical sound has been influenced by Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed. The audience will hear a mixture of jazz, bluegrass, western and Americana music. They willlead a workshop earlier in the day at Singer Castle from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that is open to any guitarist interested in improving their technical skills. The Fort Drum Military Band is slated for July 29.

The Club is hosting the Morristown Plein Air Artist's reception on Aug. 5, which will coincide with the Concert Series that will feature Church and State, a jazz trio playing numbers from a variety of musical eras.

The series wraps up on Aug. 12 with Ballroom Dancing with Todd Moe. This is a venue that invites participation by the audience and novices are welcome. Moe will provide easy lessons.
