POTSDAM – The North Country Children's Museum Presents “Classical Music & Painting” on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 12:30 until 2 p.m. at the Clarkson University Bookstore, 39 Market St.
In this workshop kids will create visual art inspired by the music of Igor Stravinsky's "Firebird". At the turn of 20th century artist like Picasso, Matisse and Giorgio de Chirico worked closely with Stravinsky's ballets, designing costumes, sets, and ultimately creating new ways of connecting music with visual arts.
Participants will make drawings and paintings that directly relate to the sound and movement of the music and explore how rhythm and harmony translate to line, texture, and color.
The workshop is taught by local artist and musician Ola Aldous.
Children in grades K-5 are welcome. The cost is $10 per child.
