AKWESASNE -- Frenchie’s Chevrolet will host the ‘Frenchie’s Chevy Runs Deep’ 358 Modified Series and Memorial Cup race at Mohawk International Raceway, along with a full program for sportsman, pro stocks, mod lites and bandits.

Last year’s Frenchie’s Champion Billy Dunn will be back to defend his title as the ‘Chevy Runs Deep’ Series gets underway for 2013.

Friday night’s 50-lap feature will also be the annual Memorial Cup event at MIR.

The Memorial Cup has been a huge part of Mohawk International Raceway dating back to the 1990 season.

Barry Poitras and Roger Lalonde split the inaugural Memorial Cup event on the only year they had twin 20 lap features. Poitras also won the event in 1995.

Dave Heaslip won in 1991, picking up his first of five Memorial Cup victories, also earning wins in 1997, 2004, 2005, and 2008.

Randy Connors won in 1992 followed by back to back wins from Billy King in 1993 and 1994.

Peter Mantha won the coveted trophy in 1996, Pierre Dagenais in 1998 and Bill “Moon” Mullin won back in the 1999 season.

Vince Quennville, Joel Doiron, Mike Perrotte and Jeff Sykes won in 2000 to 2003, with invaders Danny Johnson and Tim Fuller stealing the local’s thunder with wins in 2006 and 2007.

Carey Terrance went back to back in 2009 and 2010 with Memorial Cup wins, while more recent winners include Chris Raabe in 2011 and Dale Planck in 2012.

Be sure to attend Mohawk International Raceway this Friday night to see who will add their name to the list of Memorial Cup winners.

The pit gates and the spectator area will open at 4 p.m. Heat race action will get underway at 7:30 p.m. Pit admission is $30 with DIRTcar License and $35 without. Grandstand admission is only $20. Admission for ages 12 and under is just $5.
