Chamber Winds of Crane Wind Ensemble to present free concert Feb. 13 in Potsdam

POTSDAM -- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will host a free concert featuring the Chamber Winds of the Crane Wind Ensemble Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Hosmer Concert Hall.

The program will include Francis Poulenc's "Suite Française d'après Claude Gervaise," Richard Strauss's "Serenade in E-Flat," Jaquín Rodrigo's "Adagio for Wind Orchestra," and Einojuhani Rautavaara's "A Requiem in our Time."

The concert will conclude with "Hill Song No. 2" by Percy Aldridge Grainger and "Divertimento for Wind Orchestra" by Jindřich Feld.

The Crane Wind Ensemble includes approximately 56 musicians performing as a full wind band and also in smaller chamber wind groups. The CWE comprises the most outstanding wind and percussion majors in Crane, selected by studio faculty through audition each semester. The ensemble is augmented by members of the double bass, piano and harp studios when necessary.
