POTSDAM -- A Celebration of Jewish Music Concert will be staged at Congregation Beth El, 81 Market St., on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
Award winning Canadian musicians Aviva Chernick and Justin Gray will headline this year’s Jewish Music Festival performance.
This duo celebrates Sephardic music in Judeo-Spanish and original songs in Hebrew, while telling stories of love and family, of exile and of home.
Writing, recording and touring an original combination of world music sung in Hebrew, Ladino, English and French, the multi-lingual Chernick has collaborated with some of Canada’s best world music makers as well as international virtuosos such as Yair Dalal and Frank London.
“Aviva Chernick is a fearless musical adventurer. Her clear and persuasive voice takes us places we wouldn’t know to go on our own,” said Tom Allen of CBC Radio 2.
With each performance, whether for 40 people at a house concert or for 1000 at a music festival, audiences are moved and delighted by Chernick’s authentic presence and ease on stage, her website said.
