POTSDAM -- The 2014-15 season of "The Met: Live in HD" wraps up with Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana" & Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci": Live April 25 at 12:30 p.m. with an encore April 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Roxy Theater, 20 Main St.

Opera’s most enduring tragic double bill returns in an evocative new production from Sir David McVicar, who sets the action across two time periods but in the same Sicilian village. Marcelo Álvarez rises to the challenge of playing the dual tenor roles of Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana and Canio in Pagliacci.

Rae Smith (War Horse) has designed the moodily atmospheric 1900 village square setting of Cavalleria, which transforms to a 1948 truck stop for the doomed vaudeville troupe of Pagliacci. Eva-Maria Westbroek (Cav) and Patricia Racette (Pag) sing the unlucky heroines, and Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi is on the podium.

Susan Graham hosts and the approximate run time is three hours and thirty minutes.

The operas will be in high definition and digital surround sound at 12:55 p.m. on Saturday with an encore performance set for Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, $12 for students and $9 for youth. Purchase tickets through the Community Performance Series Box office, located in the lobby of SUNY Potsdam's Performing Arts Center, or at 267-2277 or http://cpspotsdam.org.
