AKWESANE -- The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, 873 State Highway 37, will host a “Career Showcase” in collaboration with SUNY Canton at the Underground Lounge Jan. 30 from 2 to 5 p.m.

It will feature information on employment opportunities for college students in various fields at the casino.

Casino representatives are hoping to gauge student interest in seasonal and part-time employment at the casino.

“The excitement, glitz, and energy of the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort will be on display for the students of SUNY Canton,” states Randy Isham, Director of Table Games.

“We feel that college students would be a great fit for table games because it’s fast paced and exciting,” Sheila Jacobs-King, Director of Organizational & Tribal Development added.

Based on student interest, a dealer skills training course will be offered at SUNY Canton starting Feb. 15 and running through May 3.

The course teaches the basics of blackjack dealing and requires 40 hours to complete.

Classes will be held for four hours on Saturdays for 10 weeks.

Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate and become eligible to apply for employment as a Blackjack dealer at AMCR.

Janique Odjick, director of guest services, will provide a preview of “Cosmic Bingo” from 3 to 4 p.m. with prize giveaways.
