Car-B-Que kicks off Saturday in Ogdensburg with class cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles and barbecue

OGDENSBURG -- The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce will host the 15th Annual Car-B-Que on Saturday, June 9 on the grounds of the Dobisky Visitor’s Center in Ogdensburg.

Car-B-Que is a classic car show and barbecue with trophies, raffles, door prizes, food and music. The event is fun for the whole family and admission is free, said the chamber in a press release. The event will be held rain or shine.

Classic cars, antique motorcycles and snowmobiles are all welcome. Registration starts at 10 a.m. near the tennis courts. Classic car registration is $8. Motorcycles and snowmobiles are free.

The chamber concession stand will serve pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, chips and Pepsi products.

The 10th Mountain Division Band will be back to perform music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

More than 20 trophies will be awarded at the event, including Best Mopar, Best 60’s Car, Best 50’s Car, Best Orphan Car, Best Paint, Best Under 25, Club Participation, Best Corvette, Best Truck, Ladies Choice, Best Ford, People’s Choice, Best Muscle Car, Best GM, Best Motorcycle, Best Snowmobile, Best Classic, Best Street Rod, Best Sports Car, Best Foreign, Best of Show, Most Unique, President’s Choice and Best Ford Model A.

There will also be cash prizes for a Hard Luck award and Longest Distance award and a special trophy --In Memory of Don Morley.

The Chamber will hold a Car-B-Que Raffle drawing featuring a first prize of two Cape Air tickets; second prize, Wal-Mart Gas Grill; four third prizes, $20 Ogdensburg Save-A-Lot gift cards; and fourth prize, tower fan. Tickets are on sale now at Kimro’s Medicine Place, from a Chamber board member or at the Chamber office. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Ticket holders need not be present to win.

In conjunction with Car-B-Que, the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club will hold their “Touch-A-Truck” program on Saturday, June 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the mall parking lot adjacent to Northern Physical Therapy and United Helpers Mosaic.

Also, during Car-B-Que, the Salvation Army will provide a bounce house, popcorn and sno-cones for a nominal fee.

The Fort LaPresentation Association and the Ogdensburg Rotary Club will host an ice cream social for a nominal fee.
