Canton's TAUNY to host Quebecois, French heritage event Saturday

CANTON -- TAUNY, 53 Main St., will host community members Oct. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. for a program focusing on French-American Heritage called “Share Your French Heritage! Stories from Quebec.”

Local residents with Quebecois or French ancestry are invited to share their stories about how their families came to the North Country and how they maintain a connection to their cultural identity.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own photos of family members and homesteads, objects that represent family traditions, and other artifacts and heirlooms that tell the story of their French heritage. In addition to hearing these stories, organizers are interested in hearing ideas for future programs and projects that present this heritage to a wide audience.

The program will be led by TAUNY’s Executive Director, Jill Breit. This program is free and open to the public.

TAUNY is bringing this opportunity to talk about your French heritage to other locations as well and this program will also take place at partner organizations throughout the North Country this October and November.
