Canton's Cornell Cooperative Extension to offer invasive species training on Thursday

POTSDAM -- The Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer invasive species training as part of National Invasive Species Awareness Week.

The “Invasive Species First Detector Training” will take place Thursday, Feb. 26 from noon until 4:30 p.m. Joanna Fisher from Cornell's Entomology Department will provide training on how to spot and respond to emerald ash borer, Asian longhorn beetle and hemlock wooly adelgid.

Shelby Alvekios from The Nature Conservancy will talk about effective community involvement.

Admission is free.

Beverages will be served, but no lunch is provided.
