CANTON -- The Canton Village Board will host a reception welcoming new SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran to the community on Wednesday, April 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at TAUNY, 53 Main St.
“The village is excited to be part of inauguration week for Dr. Szafran and his family,” said Mayor Mary Ann Ashley. “SUNY Canton is a large part of our community that makes a solid educational and economic impact not only in the village, but also to the region. We are grateful to have already started a positive partnership and look forward to working closely with Dr. Szafran and SUNY Canton to maintain and increase opportunities in our area. Dr. Joseph Kennedy was an outstanding leader for nineteen years, and left a solid legacy of accomplishments for Zvi to build upon."
“The continued success of SUNY Canton is an important component in the growth of our community. SUNY Canton offers programing that in many cases are unique and focused on specific fields of study that allow students to be competitive in the regional job market,” said Michael Dalton, deputy mayor. “We fully support SUNY Canton and wish Dr. Szafran all the best as he leads the school forward."
