Canton Recreation Department has events planned for June and July

CANTON -- The Canton Recreation Department is offering events in June and July.

• June 14: Amateur sand sculpting contest at Taylor Park. Teams of four, two age categories: 12 and under, 13 and over. Ten teams allowed. Register by June 12: recreation@cantonny.us or 386-3992.

• July 19-20: Trip to see the New York Yankees play the Cincinnati Reds. $250 per person includes luxury coach transportation, tickets to two games, overnight stay at the Meadowlands River Inn and Sunday breakfast. Limited to 56. Info: 386-3992

• July 25: Fun flicks family night, 6:30 p.m. at the Canton Pavilion. Free movie on a jumbo-sized screen.

• July 26: Story walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bend In River Park. Combines children's books and walking outdoors. Selection is Dr. Seuss's "The Lorax."

• July 27: 8th Mama Sergi Walk/Run: Remington Recreation Trail, registration starts at 8:30 a.m., start time is 9 a.m.
