CANTON -- A holiday edition of Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s “Wise Women, Wise Choices” lunch series takes place at the Best Western Inn, 90 East Main St., on Dec. 11.
Dr. Mariam Asar, psychiatrist, will speak on staying mentally well during the holidays and wintertime.
For many, holidays are a stressful time with many social and family obligations. Others find it a lonely season, dealing with the grief of lost loved ones. Add to this the North Country’s long winter setting in and shorter days with less sunlight and many being affected with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).
Asar’s message will focus on how to keep a bright attitude during the winter months, and ways to manage the blues while enjoying winter.
Participants from Gouverneur Hospital’s Lunch and Learn program will be in attendance.
The meal is free. Donations to help support the work of the St. Lawrence County Community Development Program and the work done locally through the Neighborhood Centers will be accepted.
Reservations, Deborah Lauther at 261-5413.
