C-PH Mammography Technologists Patricia Decosse, Carol Austin, and Joyce Foster
POTSDAM -- In collaboration with the St. Lawrence County Cancer Services Program, Canton-Potsdam Hospital will be providing free breast cancer screenings from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12.
All women between the ages of 40 and 64 with no health insurance are eligible and encouraged to participate.
Women should call 386-2325 to schedule an appointment for this Saturday.
“It cannot be said enough that early detection is the key to survival. In the event a woman cannot afford health insurance, she should not be excluded from the same potentially life-saving screenings that are available to insured women,” said C-PH Mammography Coordinator Joyce Foster.
Upon arriving on Saturday, women will be asked to sign in and then go to the imaging check-in window.
A clinical breast exam will be performed by a nurse practitioner, who will request a mammogram or breast ultrasound that same day, if necessary.
Results will be provided to the nurse practitioner and any other requested providers.
This is the second year Canton-Potsdam Hospital has offered free screenings in May and October.
For more information or to schedule an appointment for this Saturday, individuals should call 386-2325.
