Canton-Potsdam cable channel to carry ‘Local Communities Dismantling Corporate Rule’ Jan. 12, 13

Potsdam and Canton Transition (PACT) presents the latest Peak Moment TV program Jan. 12 and 13 on “Local Communities Dismantling Corporate Rule, part 2,” on WCKN, Time Warner Cable local access channel 30.

Program host Janaia Donaldson continues her discussion with community rights educator Paul Cienfuegos.

“I’m not aware of any other social movement going on in the US today that has the power to challenge and win against corporate rule, push back and dismantle corporate rights, and enshrine rights for actual human beings,” asserts Cienfuegos.

Local community rights ordinances are not only stripping “rights” from corporations, but asserting that nature has rights, according to Peak Moment TV. Two Oregon counties have submitted a “Right to Local Food Systems” ordinance which forbids genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and protects heritage seeds, and asserts the right to fully functioning natural communities, even requiring a corporation to restore whatever it has disrupted.

Now in its seventh year, the Peak Moment TV programs air every week at 7 pm on Monday and Tuesday on WCKN, Time Warner Digital 30. Peak Moment explores locally reliant living for challenging times. The programs are underwritten locally by The Center for Excellence in Communication at Clarkson University and the Seymour Family of Potsdam.

This dismantling corporate rule theme concludes on Jan. 19 and 20 with the third part of the series. The month rounds out with a look at “Re-Becoming Villagers Wherever We Live” on Jan. 26 and 27.

All the programs are available on the internet at www.wordpress.peakmoment.tv/conversations/ in both video and audio formats.

More than 80 Peak Moment TV shows are now available on DVDs which can be borrowed from the Potsdam Public Library from the collection of shows purchased for broadcast locally.
