CANTON -- The Canton Garden Club will take a tour of the Thousand Islands Winery on Aug. 10.

They will meet at the Canton Price Chopper parking lot by 9 a.m. to carpool and leave by 9:15. The trip will take about an hour and a half.

The staff of the Thousand Island Winery will lead a short walking tour through the vineyard, the storage and preparation rooms, and a discussion of the art of winemaking. Tasting six complimentary wines will follow the tour. There is an optional tasting of 14 more of their wines with a complimentary souvenir wine glass, for $5.

After the tour, it’s on to the B.J. Wilkinson’s summer cottage on Wellesley Island for a light lunch and refreshments. Attendees may bring a bathing suit and a towel for swimming in the St. Lawrence.

The hostesses for the day will be Sally McElhearn, Jane Semple, and B.J. Wilkinson.

They would like to know the number of those who are going, so people are asked to call Jane Semple at 379-9523 by Aug. 6.

The Canton Garden Club is affiliated with the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc. and The National Garden Clubs, Inc.
