CANTON -- The Canton Recreation Department is partnering with Nature Up North to provide a Canton Fall Trails Series.
A hike will be held each Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. during October, featuring one of Canton’s trails.
Each Trails Series event will begin with a guided activity (30-45 minutes) after which you will be invited to continue to explore the trail on your own.
This family friendly program is open to all. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The first hike in the series will be a fall foliage walk Friday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. along the Avenue of the Elms and Saddlemire Trail on St. Lawrence University Campus. There will be a color collection activity, after which everyone will be welcome to further explore the trail individually. The distance is between 1 and 3 miles
Parking will be in the SLU Campus Lot A (from Main Street, turn onto Romoda Drive, take your first left onto Avenue of the Elms, Parking Lot A is immediately on the left), SLU Campus Lot H (from Romoda Drive this lot will be on your right).
Hikers are advised to dress for the weather and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. You may want to bring sun screen, bug spray and a water bottle.
Other upcoming Fall Trails Series events are:
Friday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. – SUNY Canton Cross Country Trail
Friday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. – Kip Tract
