CANTON -- The Canton United Methodist Church will host a performance of "Virgil's Wedding" by Eddie McPherson Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. at the church.
The show will be followed by a lasagna dinner. Cost is $15, $12 for seniors and $6 for children.
The Rev. Michael Terrell, pastor of the Canton United Methodist Church since July of 2012, decided to try something new in the community.
Being a person who has been involved in theatre shows since high school and is very active in the Grasse River Players theatre company, the Rev. Terrell decided to direct a show involving church members and friends who have donated a lot of time and have been rehearsing since the middle of July.
"This show will keep you laughing from beginning to end," says the Rev. Terrell, "I'm hoping to make a comedy dinner theatre a yearly event every October." The proceeds from the dinner theatre support the many missions of the church, and is not used for general expense. "We have many wonderful ministries within the church from Canton to around the world that we support, and the funds will help us keep our commitment to those life changing ministries" says the Rev. Terrell.
The "Virgil's Wedding" cast includes David, Emma & Naomi Crowell, Liam, Amelia and Sarah Rodee, Morgan Hastings, Jennifer, Michael & Willow Terrell, Arthur Johnson, Krista Freego, Jennifer Freego, Dennie Brandt, Jane Brown, Otis VanHorne, Caroline Smith, Jeannie Blake, Paul Sibbitts and Madison Simser.
