CANTON -- The Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 ½ E. Main St., in Canton will celebrated “World Storytelling Day” with a storytelling night Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. Local storytellers and guests from the Ottawa Storytellers will be featured.
International Storytelling Day, which takes place on March 20, the spring equinox, was established in 1992 to celebrate the importance of the oral tradition of telling stories. People around the world will be hosting events and telling each other stories on and around the first day of spring.
The church’s Sunday morning service on March 17 will be an intergenerational service focusing on storytelling, including tales from the Ottawa Storytellers. Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information visit www.uucantonny.org.
