CANTON -- Canton Central School District holds its budget hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9 in the Hugh C. Williams High School Learning Resource Center.
That will be followed by a regular board meeting.
Voting on the 2013-2014 district budget, school bus proposition, and candidates for the board of education will be held on Tuesday, May 21 from noon to 9 p.m., also in the high school learning resource center.
To be eligible to vote, one must be at least 18 years old on May 21, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the school district at least 30 days prior to the election.
Voters do not need to be registered to vote in the school election.
Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained from the district office, 99 State St., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Completed applications must be received by the clerk at least seven days before the election if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Absentee ballots must be received by the clerk no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.
