CANTON -- The Canton-based Waydown Wailers have released their second album, Empty Promises.
Waydown Wailers first hit the music scene in 2012. In the wake of a successful reception of their debut album, “State of the Union” on the Woodstock Records label, the band have been busy playing shows in the northeast region, from small clubs to music festivals.
They have opened for New Riders of the Purple Sage (originally formed in the 1960s by several members of The Grateful Dead), Spin Doctors and Blue Coupe (including founding members of Alice Cooper and Blue Öyster Cult).
A local fan-appreciation CD release concert is planned at the Edwards Opera House, 161 Main St., Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
The show is $10 at the door and will offer locals an early chance to purchase the album, which won’t be officially released by Woodstock Records until early 2016.
Waydown Wailers style is at the edge of the swamp rock, blues, and jam genres with Americana. It is a sound better known as jam rock.
The band includes members Dave and Christian Parker, Michael Scriminger and Connor Pelkey.
