CANTON -- Canton-based indie rock band Bee Children will film a video for its new single, "Get Free," at a free public event Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. at the Java Barn on the campus of St. Lawrence University.

Local music fans are invited to come and participate in the video and also hear a short live performance by the band, including songs from Bee Children's forthcoming second album.

The event will also serve as a benefit for Renewal House. Attendees who make a donation in any amount will have their names entered in a drawing for a signed copy of the original "Get Free" lyrics.

"Get Free is an energetic, infectious musical commentary on the tumultuous times we're living in," said Bee Children frontman John Collins. "I wrote it because I wanted to highlight the need to get moving, stay hopeful, and support those around us who are struggling for liberation."

Produced by David Henderson, the video will feature footage of both the band's performance and the crowd at the event.

Bee Children released their debut CD, “Veranophonic,” in 2015 and have performed throughout the North Country in venues such as the Russell Theatre, Maxfields in Potsdam, the Buccaneer Lounge in Canton, Coyote Moon on the River in Clayton, and numerous local concert series.

Stretching outward from their folk and pop roots, the music on their forthcoming album features strong 80s alternative influences while retaining the band's longstanding commitment to songcraft, melody, and vocal harmonies.
