Canton artist picked as juror for Remington Musuem's Juried Art Exhibit

OGDENSBURG -- The Frederic Remington Art Museum, 303 Washington St., announces its 2018 New York State Juried Art Exhibit, opening Sept. 22.

This biennial exhibition is open to any artist 18 years and older working within New York State. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, August 7.

For the 2018 New York State Juried Art Exhibit, artists are invited to submit up to three digital photos of their art. Selected artworks will be on display will be during the Museum’s busy fall tourist season, so works will receive maximum exposure.

For this year’s NYS Exhibit, the Remington Museum is very pleased to have as its juror the discerning and accomplished artist Roger Bailey.

Bailey was born and raised in Iowa and earned degrees in Fine Art from the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Nebraska.

Following four years of teaching art in public schools in Iowa, Bailey accepted a position in 1969 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, where he taught printmaking and drawing courses.

Upon retirement in 2002 Bailey established his own printmaking studio, known as The Senefelder Club of the North Country, located at his home south of Canton.

Here Bailey has pursued his own work as well as collaborating on intaglio and lithography printmaking projects with others, including artists Jack Beal and Sondra Freckelton.

The deadline for submission of digital images, information, and payment is Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Submission can be completed online, or via email to desmond@fredericremington.org, or on CD with an entry form and payment mailed to the museum.

The exhibit opens with a reception on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 2-4 p.m., and will remain on view until January 13. Works in the exhibit may be offered for sale, with one third of the price benefiting the Museum.
