POTSDAM -- North Country Matters Presents: Conversation with Candidates, three local candidate conversations and a new voter education meeting on the Potsdam Dissolution question in coming days on WCKN, Time Warner Cable Channel 30.
The Conversations with Candidates air staring at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with candidates Gavin Regan, St. Lawrence County Clerk; Cecily Morris, county Family Court Judge, at 7:30 p.m., Mark Lee, Potsdam trustee candidate, at 8 p.m., Steve Yurgartis, Potsdam mayor candidate, at 8:30 p.m.; and 9 p.m., Eleanor Hopke, Potsdam trustee candidate.
Each sat down with village residents Bob Burns and Sue Rice to discuss the critical issues surrounding this year’s election.
Those five conversations repeat at the same times on Thursday, Oct. 13.
On Monday, Oct. 10, following Peak Moment TV at 7 p.m., you can watch the Sept. 12 Dissolution Hearing held by the Village of Potsdam. On Tuesday, Oct 11, the second hearing taped on Oct. 5 with the Seneca Falls officials discussing the post-election transition that community has undergone following the vote last year airs at 7:30 p.m. This discussion presented a case study of another community’s dissolution process before and after the vote.
Additional Dissolution voter education programming is also in the works. On Oct. 21, WCKN will tape a one-hour discussion of the alternatives to dissolution which were in the report prepared for the village. Committee members Michele Arnold and Alex Jacobs will outline the non-dissolution choices recommended in the report with community resident Bob Burns. On Oct. 28, WCKN will host a live call-in show to answer last minute questions and opinions concerning Dissolution prior to the vote on Nov. 8. Stay tuned for more details on both events.
More conversations will be taped the coming weeks. Already scheduled are candidates Andrew Moses for Family Court Judge; Mary Lou Rupp for county Clerk, and Ron Tischler for Potsdam Village trustee.
Each of the half-hour segments will be broadcast on a rotating basis between through Election Day, Nov. 8 and be available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/danieledullea#.
