‘The Wanakena Footbridge,’ a painting by Catherine LaPointe, based on a photograph by Kristin V. Rehder, is one of the pieces in ‘Building Up the North’
CANTON -- "Building Up the North Country," a multi-media exhibit focusing attention on the man-made aspects of the region, opens with a reception on Friday, April 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the TAUNY center.
In the fall, county residents were invited to submit photos of man-made structures around the area, and the public was invited to vote for their favorites. Potsdam artist Catherine LaPointe turned the highest rated photos into mixed-media paintings. “Building Up the North” includes both the photos and the paintings. LaPointe and some of the contributing photographers will be on hand at the Friday evening reception for questions and discussion. Light refreshments will be served.
