POTSDAM -- The Community Performance Series continues its spring season on with Broadway legend Audra McDonald on Saturday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Hosmer Hall, SUNY Potsdam.
Winner of six Tony Awards and two Grammys, the barrier-breaking Broadway legend and “Live From Lincoln Center” host Audra McDonald dazzles audiences with favorite showtunes and songs from her new album Go Back Home, her most personal recording to date.
McDonald made history at the 2014 Tony Awards by becoming the first actress to receive an award in each of the four actress categories, winning for her stunning performance as the iconic Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill.
McDonald has maintained ties to her classical training and repertoire. She frequently performs in concert throughout the U.S. and has performed with musical organizations such as the New York Philharmonic and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
She had previously won for her performances as Bess in Porgy and Bess and Sarah in Ragtime. Her appearances on television include work as Naomi Bennet on “Private Practice” and as Mother Abbess in NBC’s “The Sound of Music Live!” with Carrie Underwood. She also starred in the ABC television drama Private Practice as Dr. Naomi Bennett.
“Absolutely thrilling… a defining voice of our time.” Says The New York Times
