MASSENA -- The doors of the new Boys & Girls Clubhouse, 30 Bayley Rd., will open for daily afterschool programming for students starting Monday, Sept. 11.
Snacks, homework help, socialization, and daily activities will be available.
The clubhouse will be open to students in grades 7-12 only for the first week, during which teens will have the opportunity to apply for junior staff positions.
Teens will also be able to volunteer to lead interest specific clubs at the clubhouse to earn community service experience and develop leadership skills.
Daily afterschool programming for elementary students begins Sept. 18, and lasts until 6 p.m. each night.
For students attending daily, parents are asked to complete a childcare transportation form with their child’s membership form.
Once they pay the $10 annual membership fee (or scholarship form), and have a completed membership form for the 2017/2018 school year, the bus forms will be turned into the transportation department.
There is limited space available. Those applying are advised to turn in club membership forms as soon as possible. Elementary students attending club activities occasionally, must have a signed note from a parent or guardian to take a transfer bus to Jefferson Elementary school. They will walk to the clubhouse from there.
High school and middle school students, are encouraged to take the afterschool bus to Orvis Street and walk up the hill from there, where they do not have to cross Route 37.
Membership forms are available at www.bgcmassena.org, at the clubhouse, or at the front offices of the schools. All membership forms and dues are to be turned in at the clubhouse. If the office is closed, forms can be dropped off in the secure mailbox at the entrance. Parents are asked to not turn in membership forms to the schools this year.
