MASSENA -- The Northern Lights District of the Boy Scouts of America will host its fourth Merit Badge Day on Oct. 18 at the Massena United Methodist Church, 189 Main St.
The day will be split into two sessions with four badges offered between 9 a.m. and noon. Four badges being offered between 1 and 4 p.m. Morning offerings include American Labor, Citizenship in the World, Chemistry and Communications. Afternoon offerings include Leatherwork (limit eight), Citizenship in the Nation, Medicine and Electricity.
Scouts wishing to participate should contact Ann Ryan at 315-771-2010 or ajryan@gmail.com. Registration is $5 per Scout and those wishing to participate should wear their uniform, bring a writing tool and a bag lunch or money for concessions offered by the Massena Scout Troop.
Participation is available on a first come, first served basis. This is particularly important for the leatherworking badge because the class is restricted to only eight Scouts.
The event is also open to parents or boys wishing to learn more about Scouting. Scouting personnel will be available to answer questions and provide membership information to those wishing to become a part of the St. Lawrence County Scouting family. Questions can be addressed to Ann Ryan as listed above or Jason Clark, Northern Lights District Chairman, at (617)312-8594 or jasonclark2001@msn.com.
