MASSENA – The fifth annual Bob Thompson Blues Bash kicks off at noon Sunday, July 3 at Springs Park, corner of Main and West Hatfield streets.
Five bands perform at the daylong, family-friendly event that runs until 7 p.m.
This year’s blues lineup features two bands fronted by true harmonica virtuosos - the SAMMY (Syracuse Area Music) award winning band, Bernie Clarke and the Rhythm Sharks and the multi-talented performer, writer and Syracuse Jazz 88 blues radio host, Tom Townsley with his band, the Backsliders.
Local favorites, Akwesasne’s Dirty Blues Project brings its energized, eclectic mix of blues and blues rock to the stage and all the way from the Woodstock music scene is the fabulous, Smokin’ Aces Band.
Rounding out the lineup is Tas Cru (aka Rick Bates/Conrad Story Blues Band) whose band this year will be a mix of Albany-area and local talent including Meaghan Janovsky (Manor) and Laura Gilbert on vocals and Ray Gardner on bass.
Coolers are allowed and food and beverage vendors will be on site.
Ample clean, comfortable restroom facilities are available.
