OGDENSBURG – The About Boating Safely certification course will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. March 27 and 28 at the United Helpers Mosaic Center, 100 Ford St., hosted by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. Attendance at both sessions is required.

The course is required for everyone 14 years old or older operating a personal watercraft (i.e. jet ski), and motor boat operators born on or after May 1, 1996 and at least 10 years of age in New York State. Instructors, local Auxiliary members with years of experience, will answer questions about boating safely in the North Country.

Attendees can check out safety equipment and receive the course text book and Federal and State rule books to keep as references.

The “About Boating Safely” certificate and card are awarded at the end of the second night and are valid in New York State and all other states, and easily replaced if lost or damaged. Cost is $35; a family plan is available.

Participants can preregister at the Gardner Furniture and Flooring booth at the Boys and Girls Expo, March 23-25, or by contacting Gardner’s Furniture and Flooring at 315-393-6488, Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 4:00.
