Boater safety course offered in South Colton

SOUTH COLTON -- A New York State Department of Parks and Recreation Marine Unit-sponsored boater safety class will be offered on Saturday, May 20 at the South Colton Community Center.

The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone wishing to operate a PWC (Jet-Ski or Sea-Doo) in the state is required to successfully complete the course. Persons under the age of 14 may not operate a PWC without an adult. All children from 10 years of age to 18 years of age must take this course and pass the exam to operate any motorized boat alone in New York.

There is no charge for this course. It will be taught by volunteer instructors Jim and Sue Corbett.
