OGDENSBURG – The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is pleased to announce the presentation of “About Boating Safely” Sept. 19 and 20, from 5-9 p.m., at the United Helpers Mosaic Center.

This course is required in New York State for anyone 14 years old and older who operates a personal watercraft or jet-ski.

Motor boat operators born on or after May 1, 1996 must also have a boating safety certificate and be at least 10 years of age.

Participants must attend both nights.

The “About Boating Safely” certificate and laminated card never expires and is not mailed but is awarded at the end of the second night.

The Auxiliary card and certificate is valid in New York and all other states. The cost is $35 per person (a family plan is available).

Participants must pre-register as space is limited, by contracting Gardner's Furniture and Flooring at 315-393-6488 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
