NORWOOD -- The American Red Cross and Norwood-Norfolk Central School are hosting a blood drive in memory of former elementary school principal Joanne Bigwarfe today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school.
Bigwarfe served as principal for four years. During her tenure, Bigwarfe was a K-Kids advisor and helped raise money for a variety of organizations including the Red Cross.
She died following surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and required numerous blood transfusions during the procedure.
People who have not donated blood in the past 56 days or “Power Red Cells” in the past 112 days are encouraged to donated.
