“Rebirth,” a mosaic blanket of handspun and dyed wool by Aimee Douglass, Hermon, is part of the exhibit in the main gallery at The TAUNY Center, Recent Works by Area Knitters.
CANTON -- Recent works by area knitters are on display through the month of January at The TAUNY Center, 53 Main St.
Sponsored by the TAUNY Tuesday Knitting Group, led by Canton resident Jody Horwitz, the display is an opportunity for knitters to share project successes and inspire others to pull their needles out during the long winter months.
The pieces on display include a range of knitting techniques and materials; cables, mosaic work, double knitting, locally sourced wools and more. Entries include garments, accessories, doll clothes, a blanket made from homespun yarn, and even a Zombie by 11-year-old knitter Zebulon Douglass of Hermon.
The exhibit also includes some examples of what has been popular with North Country knitters from the 1950s to the present, courtesy of 2002 North Country Heritage Award recipient Barbara Klemens.
The TAUNY Center is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
