CANTON -- Birdsfoot Farm is having a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) outreach meeting at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Little River Community School, 1227 CR 25.
Farmer Dulli Tengeler will explain how people can sign up for a weekly box of fresh local organic vegetables and herbs, and answer questions. There will be a tour of the farm and gardens next door. Birdsfoot Farm offers drop offs in Canton and Potsdam.
The CSA starts on June 12 and goes until Oct. 9. “More and more people want to take charge of what they eat and support their local farmer,” said Tengeler. “CSA is a great option when you can’t make it to the farmers’ market. It is for people who love good food, who want to commit to weekly fresh produce, learn about new crops, get recipes and enjoy the farm’s newsletters,” she said.
She explains that subscribing to a CSA ensures that farmers, receive the full value of the cost of the share, rather than companies that transport, process, and market food. In return, customers become connected to the farm and the community.
