WADDINGTON -- Big Papa & the Escape Key Band will be the next featured performers at the Waddington Concert Series Friday, June 30, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the bottom of Main Street.
Big Papa and the Escape Key Band are described as tropical rock in flip flops, and not your typical hum-and-strum, one-man-band.
Big Papa plays danceable beach covers which bring to mind the pirate days of Old Town Key West. Audience interaction is encouraged and audience members are invited onstage with Papa to play hand drums or sing back up.
An authentic professional steel pan drum adds island flair to the act. The pan drum was handmade from a 55 gallon steel drum in Trinidad and tuned in the states by PanYard.
Big Papa’s debut album “Big Escape” includes “I’ve Heard This Song Before,” “Down Island Baggage Claim” and “Help Me Forget.”
Concert goers are encouraged to bring hula skirts for a hula contest.
The concert is free. Donations are accepted.
