POTSDAM -- The Seaway Valley Venom semi-pro football team will benefit from a fundraiser at Between the Buns, which will also be a holiday toy drive.
On Friday, the restaurant will give to the team 10 percent of their sales from 5 to 10 p.m.
The team will also sell $5 raffle tickets for four tickets to the Jan. 12 men’s hockey game between Clarkson and St. Lawrence universities. The winner will be announced Jan. 9.
“First and foremost we just want to say how thankful we are that Between the Buns would open their doors to us to support local athletes. We know without the support of our community we wouldn’t be able to do this,” said Venom President Elijah Winfrey.
The event will also be a toy drive. The Venom will collect toys to be given out around Christmas by the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club.
In addition to that, the team will give out two awards.
Lineman Jojo Lazore will be inducted into the team’s hall of fame and they will name their player of the month.
