POTSDAM -- The Best Friends Thrift Shop, 8 Raymond St., will officially celebrate opening under the ownership of the Potsdam Humane Society on June 6.
The grand re-opening celebration will run from 5 until 7 p.m. with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. featuring representatives from the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce and the humane society.
Enjoy refreshments and browse the varied selection of household items available for purchase. Adoptable animals will also be on hand.
The former Thrift Shop was closed during the month of March of this year to accommodate the transition from the Best Friends Thrift Shop, which was the creation of Tim and Cathy Connolly, owners of North Country Neighbors. The Connolly’s, who deserve a huge thank you and a great deal of credit, invested their own capital funds and sweat equity to start the successful business. For three years, they selflessly gave all the profits to the Potsdam Humane Society for operations at the shelter.
The store is ran by volunteers who support by donating their time. All purchases and items donated help the animals at the shelter. More than 45 dedicated volunteers from all across the North Country have helped with the store renovations and operations.
They are located next to The Tile Co. Parking is available behind the building, across from the Cactus Grill Restaurant. Wheelchair access is available through The Tile Company entrance.
