Beekeeping group to convene in Canton, novice to advanced level beekeepers invited to attend

CANTON -- The monthly gathering Bees & Beekeeping Discussion Group is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The monthly event is hosted by the Local Living Venture on the last Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Betty Evans Community Room in the new wing of the E.J. Noble medical building, 80 E. Main St.

The entrance is on the left side, at street level, next to the E.J. Noble Hospital Guild's butterfly and pollinators garden.

The building is next door to the Best Western and across from the Price Chopper on Rt. 11 in Canton, and will have an orange 'Local Living Workshop Site' lawn site near the door.

The bulk order that the group coordinates for "package bees" to stock new hives and replenish old ones will be finalized at this event. There is still time to order, but the deadline is Feb. 24 for packages. Nucleuses will likely no longer available.

All novice to advanced levels of beekeepers are welcome to ask questions and share in the successes and challenges of beekeeping in this casual group setting. It is free, though small donations are appreciated for workshop creation and overhead costs to coordinate the programs.

The Local Living Venture is a community-based organization dedicated to sharing resourceful rural living skills for a capable and healthy community.
