COLTON -- The Bee Children will perform Sept. 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Town of Colton’s Summer Music Series in St. Patrick’s Church Parish Center, State Highway 56 next to Colton-Pierrepont Central.
This is a change from earlier announcements of the concert taking place at the Gazebo on Main Street. The church is handicap accessible with handicap accessible bathrooms. Seating is provided. There will be an ice cream social by the St. Patrick’s – St. Paul’s Altar Rosary Society.
Bee Children play a diverse range of original pop, folk-rock and agit-folk songs and covers from the same genres. With a strong emphasis on songcraft, melody, and vocal harmonies, the band brings the do-it-yourself spirit of the 1960s to the 21st century with songs designed to “keep your hoping machine running” as Woody Guthrie implored through his music and life.
Members of Bee Children include John Collins (acoustic guitar, vocals), Shane Rogers (keyboards, percussion, vocals), Don Burlingame (drums), Terry DuBray (bass guitar, vocals), and Sarah Gates (acoustic guitar, vocals). In their debut CD, Veranophonic, released in January 2015 they are joined by Sarah Todd and other local performers including Jon Dufore, Traci Fordham, Miguel Hernandez, and David Sommerstein.
The performance is free
Barn quilts painted by the town’s Tourism & Beautification Committee and Colton-Pierrepont Central School Art Club students are being raffled to raise funds to help cover performer fees. A two-by-two foot barn quilt, valued at more than $100, featuring the North Woods Tree design will be raffled. Tickets are 2 for $5.
