CANTON -- A meeting for “Battle of the Books” will be held at Canton Middle School for students in fourth through sixth grade on Jan. 12 at 2:45 p.m. in the library.
Children may still participate if they cannot attend this meeting.
The event sees students form teams of up to four members and choose an adult as a coach.
Teams may be of mixed grades and can be made up of students who attend different Canton area schools or are homeschooled.
Teams will read a chosen list of 20 books, and during the Battle in May, they will be asked questions about the books on the list, and will need to give the book’s title and author as their answer.
The winning team will go on to a regional competition to face winning teams from other North Country Library System libraries.
Students who are homeschooled or attend Little River Community School or St. Mary’s may attend this meeting or get an information/registration packet in the children’s room at the Canton Free Library.
