POTSDAM – A babysitter training class for ages 11 to 15 will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Red Cross Office, 73 Market St.
The class includes hands-on activities, videos, role-plays, take-home training materials, and discussions.
Participants will learn how to perform skills such as diapering and feeding, choosing age-appropriate games and toys, handling bedtime and disciplinary issues, safety hazards and injury prevention, and care for common injuries and emergencies.
Other skills to be taught include communicating effectively with parents and finding and interviewing for babysitting jobs.
The cost is $85 and includes a babysitter’s training certificate, handbook, and CD ROM. Participants should bring a bag lunch. Register by calling 1-800-733-2767 or visit www.redcross.org/take-a-class.
