POTSDAM -- A new exhibit featuring award-winning artwork by students in grades 7-12 opens at the Potsdam Town Hall Friday, 18 Elm St., April 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are a national competition. Students from St. Lawrence County compete as part of the Central New York Art Region in Syracuse.
The NCATA approached SLC Arts last year with the idea of re-displaying award winning artwork closer to home following the display in Syracuse.
Visual art award winners from St. Lawrence County this year include middle and high school students from Potsdam, Norwood-Norfolk, Parishville-Hopkinton, Massena and Harrisville.
The art show will be on display through May 2.
The exhibit and opening are free and open to anyone.
The gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Info: 265-6860, or http://slcartscouncil.org/event/opening-scholastic/. The exhibit was organized by St. Lawrence County Arts Council in partnership with the North Country Art Teachers' Association (NCATA).
