POTSDAM -- Bob Deans, director of strategic engagement for the Natural Resources Defense Council environmental advocacy group will give a presentation titled "The World We Create: A Message of Hope for a Planet in Peril" at Clarkson University.
The event will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center Forum.
It is free and open to the public.
A voice on the central environmental issues of our time, Deans is a frequent commentator on national radio, television and newspapers.
He is the author of the 2012 book “Reckless: the Political Assault on the American Environment” and the 2007 book “The River Where America Began: A Journey Along the James.”
Deans also co-authored the books “The World We Create: A Message of Hope for a Planet in Peril.,” “In Deep Water: The Anatomy of a Disaster,” “The Fate of the Gulf” and “How to End Our Oil Addiction; and Clean Energy Common Sense: An American Call to Action on Global Climate Change.”
A native of Richmond, Va., Deans spent 25 years as a correspondent for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other newspapers, including four years as a Tokyo-based chief Asia correspondent and eight years covering the White House.
He is a former president of the White House Correspondents' Association and speaks frequently about writing, American democracy and the environment.
