ASAP Ferg to headline SUNY Canton spring concert April 23

CANTON -- A Harlem rapper who received the "Rookie of the Year" honor at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards will headline SUNY Canton's spring concert April 23.

ASAP Ferg will perform at 8 p.m. in the Dana Hall Gym. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for SUNY Canton students $15 for the public. They can be purchased at the SUNY Canton Activities Office in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center or at Northern Music and Video, 29 Market St. in Potsdam.

"ASAP Ferg just announced he will be performing tour dates with major recording artist M.I.A., so there is a lot of buzz surrounding his music," said Director of Student Activities Priscilla Leggette.

He is part of the popular hip-hop collective ASAP Mob. His debut solo single "Work" earned more than two million online views and was named as one of the "50 Best Songs of 2012" by Complex Magazine. His debut album, "Trap Lord," which was released last year, received positive reviews from critics.

"We are always on the lookout for talented musical acts who are rising stars,” Leggette said.

Fellow rap artist and SUNY Canton student Don Cypha will be the opening act.
